
Meet The Poet: Tasha.

LaTarasha Tate ("Tasha Tate") is a dedicated educator, community leader, and entrepreneur from Memphis, TN. She is a graduate of East High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Christian Brothers University as well as a Master's in Education from Grand Canyon University. Her career includes serving as principal at FDW Christian Academy, media producer for Bountiful Blessings Ministry, and retired real estate agent. Currently, she teaches Economics, AP African American Studies, and IB Social and Cultural Anthropology at Germantown High School within Memphis-Shelby County Schools. She is also an online instructor for the Memphis Virtual Adult High School, teaching history to adult students seeking a second chance at obtaining their high school diploma.

A passionate advocate for youth, Tasha is committed to fostering growth in both the classroom and the community. Her educational philosophy, rooted in the belief that "every child is a gift from God," drives her approach to helping students discover and develop their potential. Each year, she organizes college tours for high school students, providing them with opportunities to explore higher education options.

In addition to her teaching role, Tasha is the CEO of GeNeX Career and Consulting, where she mentors high school and college students on career preparation, financial literacy, and personal development. She also served as the History Department Chair at Germantown High and organizes the school's annual Career and Job Fair, which connects graduating seniors with immediate career opportunities.

Tasha is also an accomplished writer and poet. Her storytelling through poetry has earned her numerous speaking engagements, and she is the author of the book "I Was Dressed Up But Still Messed Up: Until I Put On Christ." Her dedication to youth empowerment is deeply connected to her faith, as she strives to inspire young people to pursue a meaningful relationship with God.

Tasha believes in living a life of excellence, paying it forward, and empowering the next generation with knowledge, faith, and purpose. Her greatest aspiration is to be a reflection of God’s image in everything she does.
